Durbin Creek Elementary School Art Show

Join us on Friday, April 26. 2024 from 6 - 7:30  PM to appreciate the Art of our Durbin Creek Elementary School Students. 

This year’s art show theme is “Reflections of Me”…..Self Portraits from direct observation. Each table in the art room was set up with mirrors for students to observe their face structure and features directly. All students learned basic skills for setting up their drawing such as beginning with an oval, dividing and sectioning off the face using intersecting lines, and using basic shapes, like footballs, to draw in eyes and other features. Each grade level took a different approach to completing their backgrounds by looking at the self-portraits of famous artists such as Frida Kahlo, Vincent Van Gogh and Kehinde Wiley. Students utilized the principles of design (pattern, repetition, and unity) to create an overall harmonious artwork.

Volunteers are needed to help make this event a success.…
